Conversion-focused e-commerce platform
An e-commerce build focused on the two places where sales are actually lost: the product page and the checkout path.
The problem
Traffic was arriving but converting poorly. The product pages did not answer the questions buyers ask before purchasing, and the checkout path introduced enough friction that carts were abandoned partway through.
Approach
- Separated the traffic problem from the conversion problem, and confirmed conversion was the constraint.
- Audited product pages against the questions buyers actually ask before deciding.
- Reduced the checkout path to the minimum number of required steps.
What was built
- Product pages restructured around buyer decision criteria
- Streamlined checkout with reduced steps and fewer required fields
- Journey instrumentation to locate the exact drop-off points
- Mobile-first implementation, since most traffic arrived on phones
Outcome
The same traffic produces more completed purchases, with drop-off points visible rather than guessed at.
